The Great Cocktail Bash - Amazing.

Those of you who are in the 'know'.. so to speak, will know that myself and two of my partners in crime are throwing the annual MidWinter Cocktail Ball, at the BushRangers Arms. Surely it will be an extravaganza and we certainly have some quite incredible people comming.. (After watching the EuroVision Song contest on the weekend I am not going to use the word 'Amazing' for at least a month! Why, you ask, was I watching the EuroVision Contest? It is just that it is sooo funny... and the guys that won it! well? what can i say: Amaz...g! .. but i digress.)

Part of the precision planning that this 'Op' has demanded includes the compilation of the cocktail list for the evening, the current list is below
But anyone is welcome to suggest their favorites for consideration.

-Mid Winter Cocktail Menu -

Mini Guinness
Fill a shot glass almost to the top with Kahlua. Very carefully pour a layer of Baileys on top. Present to the intended recipient whilst affecting a terrible Irish accent.

Pousse Café
A very famous layered shot cocktail - definitely one to test the bartender. Add one part of each of the following to a shot glass, pouring successive ingredients over the back of a bar spoon - grenadine, green crème de menthe, Galliano, kummel and brandy.

Bastille Bomb
Another rather fancy layered shot. As above, add equal parts of these ingredients, in this order - grenadine, blue Curacao and Cointreau.

Margarita –
Just one of the finest cocktails in the world.

Salt the rim of the glass by pouring some fine salt into a dish, wiping a lime wedge around the rim of the glass, and then dipping it into the salt. Fill a shaker 2/3 full with ice, and add a large (50ml) shot of tequila, a small (25 ml) shot of Cointreau and a small shot of fresh limejuice. Shake and strain into the glass.

Golden Dream
Into a shaker 2/3 filled with ice add a large (60ml) shot of Galliano, half a small (30ml) shot of Cointreau, a small shot of orange juice, and a small shot of single cream. Shake well, and strain into a chilled Martini glass.

Bird of Paradise –
Into a shaker 2/3 filled with ice add a small (25ml) shot of tequila, a small shot of white crème do cacao, ½ a small shot of amaretto and a large (50m) shot of single cream. Shake and strain into a Martini glass.

Mojito –
A very popular summer drink. Add a few mint leaves and either some sugar syrup or a couple of sugar cubes to an old fashioned glass. Muddle these together, then add a large (50ml) shot of bacardi rum, and stir. Top up with crushed ice, and add a little soda water to taste.

Wild Honey
Into a shaker 2/3 filled with ice add 1 ½ small (30ml) shots of blended Scotch whisky, a small shot of vanilla vodka, a small shot of Drambuie, half a small shot of Galliano, half a small shot of single cream, and half a small shot of milk. Shake and strain into a Martini glass.

Chocolate Martini
Those that are in the know, will know where this is where all the trouble started. But as Vizzini sini said to Inego. go back to the beginning..and take 2/3 vodka with 1/3 white crème de cacao.. lots of ice.. Shake, strain into a Martini glass, drink and move on.

Take 4 parts Citron Vodka with 2 parts Cointreau or Triple Sec, 2 parts Cranberry Juice and
1 part Lime Fresh Juice.. Ice.. shake.. pour.. drink..

Perhaps now that Fidel is on his way out (or is he already dead?) we should add the "Cuba Libre", which will no longer be ironically refreshing.

Bacardi, Coke and a splash of lime.
